This is the largest event focusing on Australian and New Guinea fishes anywhere in the fishkeeping realm. 
The guest speaker line up is astounding, where you will hear and learn from experts coming from Australia and the around the globe. 

MarriottThe venue is the Courtyard by Marriott, Parramatta and was chosen for its close proximity to Sydney. Parramatta City itself is a bustling metropolis, with shopping centres, restaurants and theatres amongst the many tourist attractions, even an aquarium shop! 
If this is not enough, within walking distance of the venue, you can catch a rivercat ferry or a train to Sydney, then you can take in the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Aquarium, the Museums and interesting markets to browse.

The price for entry into the convention will be $195AUD each for non-ANGFA attendees and $145AUD each for attendees with membership in ANGFA Inc. or any affiliated regional group.

LATE NEWS : Single Day Bookings for the Convention are now available - $80AUD for ANGFA members and $100AUD for non members.

Convention Agenda PDF Print E-mail

Convention Agenda - 2011

Below is an outline of the proposed agenda - details will be revised over time.

Other than the guest speakers, other highlights include the Convention Dinner & Auction.

The traditional ANGFA auction of rare and beautiful fishes will be conducted Saturday evening and conference attendance entitles you to join in the frenzied bidding. We'll also have a Trade Table operating the whole weekend where members can view and purchase fish and plants at a more leisurely pace. Meet ANGFA identities in person. Morning Teas, Lunches and Afternoon Teas will be supplied. As an optional extra, ANGFA volunteers will conduct a tour on Monday to help you unwind from the convention, relax with friends. Bring your family and enjoy some of Sydney's famous attractions. The Monday events are likely to be a visit to Sydney Aquarium in the morning, followed by a BBQ lunch on the edge of Middle Harbour at Garigal National Park (near Roseville Bridge).

The speakers list will be finalised in June 2009, but already the list of speakers who have expressed an interest in speaking is impressive.

Speakers include Tom Barr (author of The Barr Report) and Diana Walstad (author of Ecology of the Planted Aquarium).

Featured presenters also include Franz-Peter Muellenholz, Gilbert Maebe, Jean Joss on lung fish, John Merrick on crayfish, Doug Hoese from the Australian Museum on gobies, Gunther Schmida, Bruce Hansen, Culum Brown on fish behaviour, Sterling Peverell (Qld. DPI) talking on Freshwater Sawfish and Whiprays, plus more. Come and hear the experts give their informative presentations, you'll find them fascinating and entertaining.
